New Hatch Seal

This set of trim consists of three pieces to update and repair the seals on the back hatch.

If your OE perimeter seal is in good shape, this perimeter seal is a down-grade.

Most are not in good shape, and the two other parts included solve some other common issues as well.

Take a Look at the info posted in this location on the door seal page, much of it applies here as well.

New Hatch Seal

From the inside, you can see a new piece included to trim the back edge of the headliner as well, most of these are worn and grungy (originally beige/grey in color).

Hatch Seal Comparison

The new part is show all the way on the right in this photo, the original part it is replacing is in the center, you can see how it is deformed after years of use (the new part will look that way soon as well, but the rubber is more supple)

New Hatch Seal

This photo is a little inaccurate, it shows a double layer of bulb seals, this was an experiment to see if that was an improvement, it was not. Now the lower bulb is just a clean piece of new black edge trim.

Headliner Lip

The trim part shown from the inside.

Tailgate Seal

This is where it starts to get good.

You can see the new hatch seal and where it is compressed by the closed tailgate.

On the top of the tailgate is a new piece of edge seal, the pinch weld is trimmed by the vinyl and the welt seals against the upper lift gate when in the closed position.

After many years of trying to fix the infamous lift gate rattle, this new little trim piece finally solved it.

Tailgate Seal

The same spot from inside the truck.

You can see how the new seal is soft enough to form around the closed tailgate and still hit the lift gate area, this is an area where a lot of dust gets in with the old seals.

Tailgate Seal

These next two photos show the other advantage of the new tailgate seal and lift-gate-rattle-fixer, it makes a nice cushioned handle for your palm when you lift up and push the tailgate closed.

In addition to the hand padding, the vinyl edge trim protects the top edge of the tailgate from nicks and dings while loading and also protects the top edge of the tailgate if you ever carry long material sticking out the back of your truck with the tailgate closed.

Tailgate Seal

This is the single best part of the whole new set of seals.
